Managing high-volume press and retail design for Europe’s largest DIY retailer.

problem
As Europe’s largest DIY and home-improvement retailer, B&Q operates at enormous scale across the UK and Europe. Delivering consistent, high-quality press advertising, sales collateral and point of sale materials across multiple publications, formats and regional specifications is no small task. The challenge was balancing speed, accuracy and brand consistency while managing complex artwork outputs, tight deadlines and strict publication requirements – all while maintaining the standard expected of a household name in the DIY and home improvement sector.

Working on B&Q meant operating at national scale, where even the smallest detail mattered.

Managing press advertising across multiple regions required precision and consistency. Each publication came with its own specifications, deadlines and technical requirements. The role demanded not only strong graphic design skills, but also confident coordination between marketing teams, media buyers and print suppliers.
Beyond the logistics, the creative focus remained clear: make DIY feel achievable. Whether through clear layouts, structured content or complex custom illustrations in sales booklets, every piece of communication needed to reinforce B&Q’s accessible, can-do brand tone. Complex home improvement projects were broken down visually, ensuring homeowners and renters across the UK felt informed and empowered.
The result was a steady stream of print advertising and retail design delivered smoothly, without drama. In high-volume retail environments, success often looks invisible – campaigns go live on time, artwork is approved without issue, and stores receive materials exactly as planned.
